I have so many projects on the go....Any sewer/crafter worth their salt is always multi-crafting really. I don't know about you but I struggle to keep track of what I have started and what I haven't finished, so thats the purpose of this blog. Also, I'm planning on entering some sew-along challenges this year so really I need a blog to document what I've been doing. I hope you enjoy looking and laughing (I don't mind) at my attempts to keep myself entertained.

IRCC 3: Burgundy and Silver Huge Sleeved Frock

So I have decided to enter the The Third Annual Italian Renaissance Costuming Challenge hosted by The Realm of Venus, and in true 'me' style have probably bitten off a whole lot more than I can handle in choosing this dress.  I figure, if I'm going to make a big frock I might as well make A BIG FROCK.

Although I dearly love the orange and green velvet combo, I need to show restraint and use fabric from my stash.  I have 3 m of silver and 3 m of burgundy duponi silk, both from $5/m clearance sales and I'm hoping that will be enough to make this gown.  I'm going to make the sleeves a little less pouffy I think and the skirt will most likely be less full.  I've decided to use my Frankenstein pattern with side back and front lacing so that when/if I lose some weight I can still wear this gown.  I've drawn up a sketch of how the piecing will happen, I think the best way is to make a calico muslin and then cut up the pattern pieces from that.  I will definitely need to keep my wits about me with this one!
You can see my very dodgy sketching, this is mainly for the layout of the piecing, I think this will need to be fully lined, not in fur like in the portrait phew!!
